Exploring ETC’s tobacco leaf
What we look for when a leaf arrives, and why the same four criteria decide almost everything that follows.
Leaves are evaluated by qualities such as size, texture, condition and intended use. Those four readings determine the grade a leaf receives, the product it can enter, and the point in the sequence where it is used. Fermentation then develops smoothness and complexity, and careful blending contributes balance and consistency across a run.
